Tom Hortel - "The Zenovator"- Inventor, Artist, Visioneer
As both a scientist and artist at Procter & Gamble for 23 years, Tom devoted his career to exploring new methods of combining creative visualization with more traditional training systems for inventive problem solving. As a corporate Visioneer in Emerging Technologies, he created powerful new tools and methods to deliver breakthrough solutions and products. Tom pioneered innovative methods within P&G for applying visualization and cartooning within consumer research in order to capture consumer insights, frustrations and core emotional drivers that help guide the research focus. Tom eventually became an Innovation Coach and Corporate Visioneer within P&G Corporate Engineering where he trained and facilitated global project teams in delivering breakthrough solutions and designing new systems for innovative thinking, team-building and collaboration. Tom designed P&G’s “Circle of Creativity” and “Effective Problem Definition” websites for their internal InnovationNet, which are now considered the Standard of Excellence within P&G for brainstorming creative possibilities and solving impossible problems. Tom's "whole-brain" approach has yielded him over 120 global patent publications including 16 US patents with more pending. Tom helped solve thousands of problems and create a number of billion-dollar brands while at P&G.
